About the teacher Samadhimurti
Samadhi has practised yoga since she was in her early 20s. Deeply inspired she lived in the Satyananda Ashram New Zealand for 2 years in the 80s, where she also learned to teach yoga. During the following 18 years of raising her daughter she explored different styles of living, e.g. living on an island and in a solar-powered perma-culture community. Schooling of her daughter led them to Hamilton (NZ) in 1999, where Samadhi involved herself in numerous community services: facilitation of restorative justice conferences and leading workshops against violence as well as working in domestic violence programs. She helped out as telephone counsellor and taught swimming and low cost computer skills.
In 2005 Samadhi profoundly recommitted herself to the practise and teaching of yoga and spent 2006 living in various yoga ashrams in the world. On her return to New Zealand in 2007, she embarked on setting up a yoga teaching practise. She founded the charitable trust: “Shraddha – “Yoga and Meditation” to make the ideas and principles of a yogic lifestyle widely available.
In 2011 she moved to Spain teaching English and German to adults, children and businesses. More recently she moved to Mallorca to support the local yoga community and develop her language teaching practice using the techniques of deep relaxation (yoga nidra) to do so.
